I thought I would write a little bit about me today, so you can know the voice behind the writings/posts here. My name is Becky, but my family and friends call me Beck. I am currently 41 years old and single. And no, I'm not upset that I'm still single. Did I think I would be married with kids at this point? Yes. But, l really am content with the way things have turned out so far.
I was born and raised in Oklahoma - the bible belt of the US. I am a Christian and my faith is very important to me. I grew up Southern Baptist, and while I still believe a lot of the things Southern Baptists live by, I am more in tune with a Non-Denominational church setting. I go to church regularly and have always been involved with church activities, although that has tapered off as I've gotten older.
I am a daughter, sister, aunt and friend. A daughter to parents that were married for over 43 years until my dad passed away. A sister to a younger sibling who is married and blessed me as an aunt to 2 precious boys - a 13 year old and soon to be 10 year old. They are my world. They give me a glimpse into the life of being the parent that I never was, but yet I can still send them back to my sister.
My closest friends are people I've known for twenty plus years. They know everything about me and I consider them more family than friends. I love to travel and have taken several trips with said friends. You know you're besties when you can go on long trips and still be able to speak to one another when you return.
I've never really played sports, although I love to swim. I am a huge college football fan and you'll find me supporting the OU Sooners on a regular basis. Saturdays in the fall are for college football, regardless of what team is playing. Not much gets done during those weekends.
My favorite season is summer, but as far as a holiday is concerned, I absolutely love Christmas. I sometimes wish I could peak into each house I drive by in December - I love the decorations and the ambiance surrounding Christmas. And the music. I could listen to Christmas music all year long. But on a regular day, you'll find me listening to 80's and 90's genre along with the top pop stars of the current day/year. My music tastes are all over the place but it's not about the beat...it's about the words. My life song is "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by U2. Because I really haven't found what I'm looking for.
And you ask what I may be looking for? I really don't know. Hence the life adventures. I'll keep exploring and looking...and write about it all here!
